Day 677: Somehow I woke up and summer had disappeared. Within the last week or so we’ve had 3” of rain and have struggled to reach 70F. Signs of change abound. The tomatoes have started to die off, the lakes are cooling down, and the snow level is predicted to drop to almost 6,000 feet during the next couple of days meaning even the middling peaks of the North Cascades may get snow. I mean autumn might be one of the most gorgeous seasons, but it’s harder to motivate yourself to get out when the clouds and rain return. • ...
The last 3 days, we spent in North Cascades National Park in Washington State. The landscape is absolutely stunning! Camping was quite tough though as it rained heavily during the nights. Successfully crossed Washington Pass today (1700m climb), our first pass on the trip - many more to come ;) #bikewander#bicycletouring
We have been friends for over 20 years and honestly I am having trouble finding the right words at the moment. Losing our beloved doggies at the same time is so tragic yet the universe gives you the love and support you need. Today we went into the mountains to share and remember. I am so grateful for this time with you Misty. For Daffnee and Smokey. ❤️ @do_or_dye_it
A few more hikes on the east side of Hwy 20 😀. 1-4) Blue Lake; 4mi RT hike to a beautiful glacial lake, with nice views of Liberty Bell and Early Winter Spires. 5-6) Cutthroat Lake; 4mi RT hike to this lake surrounded by the towering mountains of the North Cascades. I didn’t have time to continue to the Cutthroat Pass, but that pass connects to the Pacific Crest Trail. 7-9) Washington Pass; it is a super easy walk from the parking lot to the spectacular viewpoint. And I met someone from Hawaii on this trail! We exchanged trail niceties ...
Last weekend summiting Shuksan was definitely one of the more challenging adventures I’ve had. A tad bit of ice climbing to keep me on my toes. Thanks @wbegasse for being an awesome, supportive, safe adventure partner- excited for more of our annual summer climbs! . . . . . . #adventures#girlswhohike
Rise and grind! 530am wake up call to run the Cutthroat Classic at Rainy Pass with an awesome crew of new and old friends and then jammed back to Der town to celebrate @fehlkevin and @mialovesvino with more amazing ppl! . . . #cutthroatclassic2019#trailrun
Happy to support @methow_trails by packing in the aid station at mile 7 of the Cutthroat Classic running race. Took advantage of the beautiful scenery to shoot some footage for our promo video featuring our all-natural, locally grown wool hats. Stay tuned for video! . . . #cutthroatclassic#trailrunnning
I spent my childhood in almost every organized sport my parents could put me in. Energetic, and unable to sit still, I dedicated my time to competitive swimming, dancing, running, field hockey, cross country skiing among many other activities and sports. My summers were spent digging for worms, fishing with Grandpa, canoeing, biking and venturing in the woods with my family on the Sunshine Coast, BC. I always felt connected with nature but it wasn't until my mom died when I was 16 that this connection grew even deeper. Shortly after my mom passed, my dad and I started hiking ...
Blowing my mind! 3,300ft straight up in 3 miles! Doing this intense hike with a 3 year old and a 6 week old was one of the biggest challenges of my life, but it was so worth it! #northcascadesnationalpark#northcascades
This is one of my favorite hikes I’ve done in awhile (by awhile I mean since Norway #mtsegla ❤️) - it was a 7 mile loop and I only had 3 hours, so I just hiked as far + fast as I could to try and get the best views before I had to turn around. Pretty happy with where I got!
