For me, a problem usually starts on the way down 😂 Always take the descent as serious as the ascent and arm yourself with proper equipment 🏔 in ❤️ @intersportsrbija • • • • • 📸 @medjed_the_climbing_coach • #morningslikethese#hiking
Since I have lost my mug in Paklenica NP (Croatia), everything solid and liquid cooked in this pot is oil-sardines-herbs-oatmeal-couscous-multivitamin-tablets-soyagranules flavoured. #viadinarica#viadinaricawhitetrail
Highlights of the Peaks of the Balkans Trail - Wildflowers Edition! I’ve been looking forward to sharing these. The wildflowers on this hike were magnificent. People who know me may not have guessed that I’m a “flower person”. Totally wrong. The colours, shapes, and variety! While hiking, Caitlin will often find me squatting, kneeling or lying down with my camera trying to capture the perfect picture. Hiking in the alpine on a sunny day when wildflowers are in bloom is bliss. A gift. 📷🌼🌷🌸⛰🙏
Highlights from the Peaks of the Balkans Trail - Part 3. Saving the best for last - the scenery during our last four days of hiking was sublime. Choosing just ten photos was hard! We summited the highest peak in Montenegro - Zla Kolata, 2535m. Then for two days we went off the main trail to hike and camp in the remote and incredibly beautiful valley leading to Maja Jezercë, 2694m, the second highest peak in Albania and the highest peak in the Dinaric Alps (which we also summited - see separate post). Then up and over Jezercë Pass (Photo ...
Prokletije or, translated, Cursed Mountains. Mountain range in southeast Montenegro. Rough, but beautiful in their roughness. They left me speechless and in love... At times and if taken for granted, they can be quite hostile. During our stay we met people totally unprepared, out of physical shape and common sense, trying to climb peaks without knowing anything about them, in non-adequate footwear, without water & food, not to mention headlamps and other equipment... Never underestimate power of a mountain. Weather changes are fast, most of the trails are technical and ment only for experienced hikers... Simply plan time in the ...
Highlights from the Peaks of the Balkans Trail - Part 2. I would guess at least 80% of people doing this hike are part of a guided tour who would get their backpacks (or wheelie luggage 😄) sent ahead to their destination each day. And most of the remaining independent hikers travel light because it’s possible to stay in guesthouses the entire time. Not us! We had camping gear and some food so we could tent in the mountains a couple nights. My bag weighed over 22kg everyday, and Caitlin’s over 15kg. The problem was we weren’t eating our camping ...
Highlights from the Peaks of the Balkans Trail - Part 1. We hiked 210km over 13 days through parts of Albania, Kosovo and Montenegro. Over 14,000m up and down. Incredible scenery, fantastic people, delicious food.
Preko trnja (citaj: kamenja) do zvezda! "Izaci iz zone komfora" za mene tek sad dobija smisao. 6h do vrha Karanfil Ljuljasevica, i 4h nazad. Sto bi rekla Jela: "izgubila sam sebe i ponovo pronasla". #prokletije#karanfilljuljasevica
It’s not only about climbing mountains. There’s something in finding a perfect camping spot for mornings with a view and evenings under the starry night. @intersportsrbija • "My wish is to stay always like this, living quietly in a corner of nature." - Claude Monet 🏔⛺️ • • • • • 📸 @medjed_the_climbing_coach & @ksenija.bunjak.photo • #camping#campingmornings
