Dream Lake, Rocky Mountain National Park, Painting 1 of 3: After visiting this lake last week I knew I wanted to paint the contrasts of rock and water. I decided I wanted to do 3 versions with the following versions becoming more loose and done faster. This version took about 4 hours. #danielsmithwatercolors and #mgrahamwatercolors on 8*10
I had the best vacation of my life! My best friend and the man of my dreams asked me to marry him on our 5 year anniversary! I couldn't have asked for a better partner to go through this crazy life with. I'm so happy! 😍 and thanks @corey__love for hiding the ring and getting it all on video!
First night in Rocky Mountain National Park did not disappoint. After 2 weeks of solo roadtripping, it was nice to have some company. We watched the sun set over the Never Summer Range from 12000 feet above sea level, and got “Rocky Mountain High”. Good times

One more form the Colorado trip. Standing in the mountains I was reminded of something I’d read by Kurt Vonnegut - “I urge you to please notice when you are happy, and exclaim or murmur or think at some point, ‘If this isn’t nice, I don’t know what is.’”
One of my campers this summer yelled out “Moment of Clarity!” on the trail. I asked what she meant, and she said that’s what she thinks when she sees something that makes her stop in her tracks and realize how wonderful the world is. So, looking up at Chiefshead, Pagoda and Longs.... moment of clarity.
Softened the blow of deciding not to move back to NE (yet) by giving my parents a taste of what my second home state has to offer. SPOILER — by end of day one they both agreed I made the right choice to stay. 🏔💛👨👩👧

Still one of the best hikes so far this summer. I know it wouldn’t be half as memorable if I had done it by myself. It can be a bit cliche but the people you’re with really do make the experience. I guess the outdoors is just more beautiful when you can see others’ reactions.
Wish everyday was like this! But, luckily for me I get a repeat of yesterday. My kids have kind of been little shits so, we’re going to hike them 8 miles and 2,400ft of vert. They’ll appreciate it once we actually summit Twin Sisters. . . . . . #hikecolorado#denver
