Fish River Canyon - the second largest canyon on earth after the Grand Canyon in the US. It features a gigantic ravine, in total about 160 km long, up to 27 km wide and in places almost 550 meters deep. Have a look at my stories to see a satellite image of this crazy thing.
Encounter at dusk. We were already on our way to the camp when we discovered this leopard near the road. He rested just for a few seconds on this termite hill before disappearing in the dark of @erindinamibia. These are the experiences you can not plan. Swipe left to zoom out. I found these red eyed Flamingo buddies in Namibia. Flamingos form strong pair bonds. Copulation usually occurs during nest building, which is sometimes interrupted by another flamingo pair trying to commandeer the nesting site for their use. They are also known to exhibit same-sex behaviour. This includes sex, migration and raising young together.
While erosion is a natural process, human activities have increased by 10-40 times the rate at which erosion is occurring globally. Intensive agriculture, deforestation, roads, anthropogenic climate change and urban sprawl are amongst the most significant human activities in regard to their effect on stimulating erosion.
The Skeleton Coast - Portuguese sailors once referred to it as "The Gates of Hell". It was foggy all day long during my visit, turning everything in a ghostly scenery. On the coast, the upwelling of the cold Benguela current gives rise to dense ocean fogs for much of the year.
A little community high up in the mountains of Greece. These houses are hundreds of years old. In fact the oldest known example of a built structure in this area, a stone wall, was constructed 23000 years ago. Mind-blowing! One of my favourite places around my hometown Berlin. I just love this forested island. On the other side is a little beach with a rope on a tree to jump in the clear turquoise water. Always fun in the summer. #weroamhome
